"A new reference point is chosen from which to measure the arm or distance of weight placement (section A). Called a datum line, both block Z and W produce a specific tilting force about the datum line as in section B. When the total moment about the datum line of both blocks (Z+W) is divided by the total weight of the blocks, the arm or center of gravity is found (section C). This new CG is located 10 feet past the datum or 5 feet past block Z (similar to block Q in Figure 7)." |
